What is Megaways? Dynamic reels and variable ways explained.

Megaways changes how many symbol positions are active on each reel. In a standard adjacent-reel ways calculation, multiply the active heights together: seven positions on each of six reels gives 7 × 7 × 7 × 7 × 7 × 7, or 117,649 ways. Bonanza, Extra Chilli, and Twin Spin Megaways use that familiar maximum.

The maximum still belongs to the individual title. Great Rhino Megaways, Buffalo King Megaways, and Madame Destiny Megaways publish 200,704 ways for their layouts, while other reviewed games publish 117,649. The Megaways label alone therefore does not supply one universal reel formula or maximum.

The live ways count changes with the reel heights produced for that spin. A simple six-reel layout showing 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 active positions would produce 5,040 ways under an adjacent-reel multiplication rule, even if the game advertises a much larger maximum.

A larger maximum ways figure does not prove a higher RTP, lower volatility, greater hit frequency, or larger maximum win. Those values describe different parts of the game and must be checked separately for the exact version in front of you.
