What RTP means — and what the percentage cannot tell you.

RTP, or return to player, is the theoretical share of stakes a game version is designed to return over a very large number of rounds. A listed 96% RTP is not a promise that one player receives 96% back, or that a short session should finish near that figure.

The percentage describes the long-run model. Volatility describes how unevenly that return can arrive. Two games can share the same RTP and still feel completely different because their payout distributions and bonus structures are different.

A useful comparison starts with games in a similar format. Comparing a simple classic slot with a network jackpot game can be misleading because part of the jackpot game's return may sit inside the progressive prize rather than ordinary wins.

When two reviewed games sit in the same RTP band, compare volatility, max win, the bonus trigger, paylines or ways, and whether the important feature state remains readable on mobile.

Some providers release more than one mathematical configuration of the same title. A casino can therefore host a lower or higher RTP version while the name, artwork, and basic features remain unchanged.

Paris Gamblers records the version supported by the review sources, but the active game's information or paytable remains the place to confirm the configuration in front of you. A review percentage should never be treated as universal across every casino.

Hit frequency counts how often any qualifying payout occurs; max win is the advertised payout cap. Neither number can be calculated from RTP alone.

A high RTP does not prove frequent wins, and a large max win does not show how likely that outcome is. Keep all three ideas separate when comparing reviews.
